The revival of Gypsy starring Patti LuPone is outstanding. To begin with, I think that Gypsy is one of the strongest shows written, with a great book and excellent score. By title, the story is about the stripper Gypsy Rose Lee and how she went from being a no-talent on the Vaudeville circuit to the highest-paid stripper. But really the show is about Rose, Gypsy's mother, who pushed her children June and Louise into show business and was the ultimate stage mother.
