Five Holiday Shows at Manhattan Theatre Source

Sunday November 16, 2008

If off-off-Broadway has a “Times Square” or a “Theater District,” it just might be on MacDougal Street, a block from Washington Square. That’s home of Manhattan Theatre Source, an arts service and producing organization for some of the city’s most intriguing works.

This December MTS has a line-up of five holiday-themed shows that include:

  • It's A Wonderful (One Man Show) Life by Jason Grossman, which is a one-person version of Frank Capra's classic film. Performances are December 8, 10, and 12 at 8:00 p.m. and December 14 and 21 at 3:00 p.m.

  • A Christmas Carol, by Greg Oliver Bodine, is based on the version of the classic story Charles Dickens used in a U.S. reading tour. Performances are December 9 and 11 at 8:00 p.m.

  • The St. Ignatius First Annual Hanukkah Pageant, by Mac Rogers and Sean and Jordana Williams, is an original work that imagines how the citizens of Cricket Creek, North Dakota, welcome their first Jewish citizens. Performances are December 15, 16, 18, 19, and 22 at 7:00 p.m.

  • Witch Christmas!, a new musical comedy by Sharon Fogarty, features a creepy old house, witches, orphans in peril, and a seductive Santa. Performances are December 17, 19, 22, 23, 27, and 28 at 8:00 pm and December 20 at 3:00 p.m.

  • Julie Perkins' OFF-White Christmas combines irreverence and schmaltz in equal measure with 12 holiday skits paying homage to Irving Berlin's holiday classic. Performances are December 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, and 21 at 8:00 p.m.

Tickets are $18. For availability, check OvationTix or call (212) 352-3101.
