Connick Christmas Musical Gets Milwaukee Tryout

Saturday November 29, 2008

Harry Connick Jr.'s family musical The Happy Elf receives a full staging through December 28 at Milwaukee's First Stage, Playbill reported.

The Happy Elf began as a Connick song, was expanded into an animated TV special, has become a best-selling DVD, and now it has been expanded again into full-length musical.

The First Stage production is directed by John Rando, who won a Tony for Urinetown. Andrew Fishman wrote the book for Connick's music and lyrics.

The Happy Elf is the story of an over-exuberant Santa's helper named Eubie, who might earn a spot on the sleigh team if he can cheer up the sad citizens of Bluesville.
