Jackson's 'Thriller' Headed to Stage

Tuesday January 27, 2009

Michael Jackson's Thriller is already the top-selling album of all time, and now it's headed to the stage. Playbill reports that the Nederlander Organization snagged the rights to turn the 14-minute video inspired by the song "Thriller" into a musical.

The show's music will come from the Thriller album as well as another Jackson work, Off the Wall. The video shows a boy (Jackson) and a girl on a date. When the moon rises, he turns into a werewolf and thrills ensue.

Playbill said the Grammy-winning "King of Pop" might participate in the musical's development. No development schedule or creative team has been announced.

A London stage show called Thriller Live and based on Jackson's life and music is playing now.

This is going to be ridiculously wonderful. Or completely terrible.
