Tyler Perry, who created hit movies such as Diary of a Mad Black Woman and Madea Goes to Jail, and the TV show Tyler Perry's House of Payne, is returning to his roots as a playwright with the stage production, Tyler Perry's The Marriage Counselor.

The show is open now at New York's Beacon Theater for 16-performances only. The Marriage Counselor is Perry's 10th play and marks a departure for him as it adds serious issues for adult audiences to his typical comedies.

The shows stars Palmer Williams Jr., Tamar Davis, Tony Grant and Alltrinna Grayson.

Tickets are available online through the Beacon Theatre's website.
