Musicals That Changed Broadway
Tuesday June 2, 2009
With the Tonys just around the corner, it seems a good time to look at a bit of Broadway history. So I made a list of "10 Musicals That Changed Broadway."
To make the list, a show needed to have broken ground in some way and that could mean in its theme, its creative content or even its impact on the way things are done on Broadway. My list begins with Show Boat and ends with The Producers.

Great list, Paul! Nicely reasoned I think. I’d be tempted to throw “Cats” in the mix, since that wacky show seemed to affect the development of Broadway throughout the 80s and early 90s. (But maybe you wanted to focus on positive changes?)
I blogged a bit about the Tonys, complete with lots of links to your reviews and info pages. I hope you, and some of your readers will check out my Tony Award Poll.
