The longest running show in Broadway history rules the Theatre District for a reason. Seeing (and hearing) The Phantom of the Opera is still an amazing experience. Even though Wicked breaks the box office records, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical masterpiece is still going strong on Broadway.
John Cudia and Ryan Silverman, the "Phantom" and "Raoul" respectively, sing with masterful vocal technique that never hinders emotional expression. Jennifer Hope Wills is a throaty, full-voiced "Christine," not a simpering lyric soprano. And the rest of the cast is filled with on-point character actors and singers, fully engaged in their roles and the action on stage in this tech-heavy show. Bravi, bravi, bravissimi, indeed!
