Hold on to your jazz hands, kids, word has it that NBC and Steven Spielberg are going forward with a pilot for a one-hour TV musical episodic. With a working title of Smash, the plot revolves around mounting a musical on the Broadway stage.

DreamWorks TV is said to be producing this 'Glee'-ful project with Universal Media Studios. American Idiot's Michael Mayer might direct, with original showtunes provided by Grammy and Tony-winning scribes Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

HBO is also prepping The Miraculous Year starring a number of Broadway stars in a plot about a Broadway composer. And Kristin Chenoweth is also in talks to create a grown-up version of Glee. Stay tuned for details!
