Powerhouse singers and Tony Award winners Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin bring their class act to the Broadway stage.
LuPone and Patinkin rose to fame playing "Evita" and "Che," respectively, in Andrew Lloyd Webber's Evita, each winning a Tony Award for their outstanding performances. They each segued to successful careers on television, but the stage is where their hearts truly live.
They've come back together for An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin, a revue of Broadway classics from Stephen Sondheim and Rodgers and Hammerstein, plus an "unexpected song" or two. The dynamic duo has taken their show on the road around the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. And beginning November 21, 2011, they bring their star power back to the Great White Way when they open at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre at 243 West 47th Street.
An Evening with Patti LuPone and Mandy Patinkin is a strictly limited engagement of only 63 performances. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased through their website.

This sounds really special. I adored their work together on Evita way back when (and have fond memories of wailing around my college apartment to “High Flying, Adored” and other goodies), and both put on great shows.
As the years pass, it’s interesting — I think Patti actually makes riskier theater choices overall than Mandy, but he does at least put everything into his shows as a performer. I saw him a few years back in a concert in Brooklyn, and he was mesmerizing, even if he tends to overdo the Al Jolson songbook thing (it’s just not my cup of tea for his voice).
