Follies on Broadway

The producers of the extravagant revival of what many consider to be the greatest musical ever, Follies, have announced their replacement for "Sally" in the wake of Bernadette Peters departure.
Stepping into the hard-to-fill shoes of the iconic Bernadette Peters is Tony Award winner Victoria Clark (The Light in the Piazza, Sister Act). After headlining the role at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., and on Broadway, Peters was unable to do the Los Angeles transfer due to her upcoming concert tour.
Reprising their Broadway roles for the L.A. stint are four-time Tony Award nominee Jan Maxwell as "Phyllis Rogers Stone," two-time Tony Award nominee Danny Burstein as "Buddy Plummer," three-time Emmy Award nominee Ron Raines as "Benjamin Stone" and Olivier Award winner Elaine Paige as "Carlotta Campion."
Follies recently released the new cast album featuring Peters and the rest of the Broadway cast. The show features a book by James Goldman (Into the Woods) with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim (West Side Story, Company). Directed by Eric Schaeffer, choreography is by Warren Carlyle, music direction by James Moore, scenic design by Derek McLane, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design by Kai Harada and the original orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick.
The show will play the Ahmanson Theatre May 3 through June 9, 2012. More information and tickets are available on the website.
