The longest running show in Broadway history will hit the road this Fall in a newly designed production.
Cameron Mackintosh, the man behind great shows like Les MisÚrables, is teaming up with Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Really useful Group to re-imagine The Phantom of the Opera for a national tour. The new show will launch from Providence, Rhode Island, in November, 2013, and will play in more than 20 cities during its run.
According to the press statement, Andrew Lloyd Webber is very proud of this new version of POTO which premiered in the UK in 2012.
"It's wonderful to have a new production of Phantom touring America in the same year that the show celebrates 25 years on Broadway. Director Laurence Connor has done an amazing job and this production has received huge critical acclaim in the UK."
This new production of The Phantom of the Opera is directed by Laurence Connor who also helmed the 25th Anniversary Les MisÚrables which is touring now and is set for its Broadway revival in 2014. Choreography is by Scott Ambler, Scenic Design is by Paul Brown, the original Tony Award-winning Costume Design by Maria Bj÷rnson have been retained, Lighting Design is by Paule Constable, sound design by Mick Potter and musical supervision by John Rigby.
