Looking for a good resource to improve acting skills? Applause Theatre and Cinema, a Hal Leonard imprint, is updating its "Duo!" book series with scenes for two actors written from 2000 forward.

"Duo! The Best Scenes for Two from the 21st Century" will be out in paperback next year. But you can pre-order now.

The "Duo!" book of scenes for two with scenes from the '90s is available now.

Scenes for Two:

Applause’s "Duo!" features scenes for two from Broadway, off-Broadway, and regional theater. More than 100 established and new writers are represented.

Among the names and shows are:

  • Tracy Letts, August: Osage County
  • Karen Finley, George and Martha
  • Tom Stoppard, Rock 'n' Roll
  • Lynn Nottage, Intimate Apparel
  • Richard Greenberg, Take Me Out

The scenes are self-contained, so you and a partner can use them for self-study or class presentation.

About the Editors:

"Duo!" is edited by:

  • Joyce E. Henry, an emeritus professor at Ursinus College, teaching theatre and communication. She edited The Wisdom of Shakespeare and wrote Beat the Bard.

  • Rebecca Dunn Jaroff, who teaches American literature, drama, and journalism at Ursinus College, where she is assistant professor of English.

  • Bob Shuman, who was awarded the Hunter College Zarkauer Award for Excellence in Playwriting. In addition, he is an editor, author, teacher, and fellow of the Lark Theatre Company.
