Frank Wildhorn's most known and certainly most successful musical, Jekyll and Hyde, will return to the boards of Broadway in Spring 2013. The original Broadway production made stars out of the leads, Robert Cuccioli and Linda Eder, and spawned numerous songs that have become concert and audition standards.
Jekyll and Hyde the Musical was conceived by Frank Wildhorn and Steve Cudon, with Wildhorn composing the music. He also wrote the music for The Scarlet Pimpernel, The story is based on the novella The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde by Robert
Louis Stevenson, which tells the tale of a London doctor who conducts experiments on himself in search of a cure for mental illness but unintentionally taps in to an evil alterego that wrecks havoc on London. Just as Andrew Lloyd Webber did with Jesus Christ Superstar and Evita, Jekyll and Hyde began with a concept cast album. Produced in 1990, the album featured the incredible vocal talents of "Star Search" champion Linda Eder and Les Misérables' Colm Wilkinson. A workshop production in Houston and another concept cast album led to a 30-city national tour that created a buzz about the show. Jekyll and Hyde opened on Broadway in 1997, winning accolades for the actors as well as the creative team. The original Broadway cast album of Jekyll and Hyde features the award-winning voices of Robert Cuccioli and Linda Eder as well as Christiane Noll.
