'Rock of Ages' on Broadway

'Rock of Ages'

With big hair and bigger egos, 1980's rock music is immortalized on Broadway in the mock-musical, Rock of Ages. With '80's music making a comeback amongst teens thanks to "Glee," Rock of Ages continues to show audiences how hair bands once ruled the world of music.

The smash hit rock musical Rock of Ages opened on Broadway on Tuesday, April 7, 2009, at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, and was nominated for five Tony Awards. The show played its final performance at the Brooks Atkinson on Sunday, January 9, 2011 and went on a brief hiatus before moving to a smaller Broadway theatre. Rock of Ages re-opened at The Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24, 2011. In 2012, Rock of Ages celebrated its 1500th New York performance and continues to offer audiences' "Broadway’s Best Party" at the Helen Hayes eight times per week.

Rock of Ages features music that ignited a generation while telling a classic rock love story. Rock anthems perfectly matched to the melodramtic storyline, the songs of Rock of Ages include feel-good, belt-out-loud '80's hits and power ballads such as "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," "I Wanna Know What Love Is," "Here I Go Again," and the iconic "Don’t Stop Believin'."

Rock of Ages currently stars a “Supergroup” of performers including Ashley Spencer as “Sherrie,” Justin Matthew Sargent as “Drew,” original Broadway cast member Jeremy Woodard as “Stacee Jaxx,” Genson Blimline as “Lonny,” original Broadway cast member Adam Dannheisser as “Dennis,” original Toronto cast member Cody Scott Lancaster as “Franz,” original Broadway cast member Michele Mais as “Justice,” original Toronto cast member Josephine Rose Roberts as “Regina,” and original Broadway cast member Paul Schoeffler as “Hertz.” Rounding out the ensemble cast are Tessa Alves, Joey Calveri, Tony LePage, Michael Minarik, Jennifer Rias, Cassie Silva, Andre Ward and Neka Zang.

In addition to being a bona fide Broadway hit musical, Rock of Ages was a phenomenal success Toronto; completed its First National Tour of 60 cities across the United States, starring original Rock of Ages Broadway cast member and Tony Award nominee Constantine Maroulis, who will be seen on Broadway in the re-imagined 2013 revival of Jekyll & Hyde.

A worldwide sensation, Rock of Ages has productions running in Australia and in London’s West End with licensed productions in several additional countries, including Korea and Japan.

The musical became a major motion picture in 2012 starring Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Diego Boneta, Julianne Hough, Mary J. Blige, Brian Cranston, Malin Ackerman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, who won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her work in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music and Paul Giamatti.

Rock of Ages is produced on Broadway and world-wide by Matthew Weaver, Carl Levin, Jeff Davis, Barry Habib, Scott Prisand and Relativity Media.
