'The Marvelous Wonderettes'

From , former About.com Guide

101 Words About This Show:

Welcome to Springfield High’s senior prom, 1958. Scheduled entertainers, The Crooning Crabcakes, can’t make it, so get ready for The Marvelous Wonderettes.

Also get ready for lots of tight, four-part harmony on songs from the ‘50s and ‘60s, laced with wise-cracking, boyfriend-stealing, back-stabbing interaction from the four Wonderettes.

Think Forever Plaid meets Mean Girls.

The show’s strength is its music and vocals, but second-act surprises help make a fun show a smart show as well. It won’t be giving too much away to say pay attention to what might sound like several throw-away lines in the first act.

Who’s Who and What’s What:

The Marvelous Wonderettes is written and directed by Roger Bean. It’s been playing regionally for years, and one of the four Wonderettes, Bets Malone, has been with it from the start.

Farah Alvin, Beth Malone, and Victoria Matlock round out the cast.
