‘All My Sons’ – New Take on an old Hit

From Paul Cozby, for About.com

101 Words About This Show:

All My Sons was the second Broadway play and first commercial success for playwright Arthur Miller.

Set in 1946, All My Sons exams the devastating, and lethal, effects on two Midwest families of the unbridled pursuit of the American Dream.

The plot revolves around the sale of faulty airplane parts in World War II resulting in the death of 21 airmen. Joe Keller, one of the factory owners, goes to prison for it but is exonerated by blaming his partner. Both of Joe’s moral lapses have terrible consequences for all involved, which play out over one day in the Keller home.

Who’s Who and What’s What:

The limited run engagement of All My Sons features a marquee cast including Oscar- and Tony-winner John Lithgow, Oscar-winner Diane Wiest, and Katie Holmes.

It’s directed by Simon McBurney, who is the artistic director of Britain's experimental theater company Complicite.
