About This Show:

Blithe Spirit, Noel Coward’s haunting comedy and his biggest hit play, returns to Broadway in a revival featuring a star-studded cast. In Blithe Spirit, it’s dead first wife meets alive second wife when a novelist invites a medium into his home to help with research on his upcoming book.

Blithe Spirit has always been a star-turner and this Broadway revival is no exception. Coward played novelist Charles Condomine in the original London production, and Clifton Webb starred in the Broadway premiere. The play was last revived more than 20 years ago with Richard Chamberlain.

Who’s Who and What’s What:

In this version of Blithe Spirit, four-time Tony-winner Angela Lansbury stars as Madame Arcati, the medium; movie star Rupert Everett makes his Broadway debut as Charles; two-time Tony-winner Christine Ebersole will play Elvira, the first wife; and Tony-nominees Jayne Atkinson and Deborah Rush round out the cast.

Blithe Spirit is being directed by Michael Blakemore, recently directing on Broadway with Is He Dead? and Deuce, also starring Lansbury.

Producing are the team that brought us Speed-the-Plow, Jeffrey Richards, Jerry Frankel and Steve Traxler.
