About This Show:
Joe Turners Come and Gone marks the revival of this second play in the 10-play cycle by August Wilson. (The second in the cycle's chronology, not the second to be written.)
Joe Turners Come and Gone, like nine of the ten plays in Wilsons cycle, is set in Pittsburgh, this one in 1911, and tells the story of the African-American experience in that decade. The show focuses on the lives of Southern blacks who left the farms for opportunity in the cities.
