About This Show:
In The Philanthropist, a revival of Christopher Hampton’s dark comedy, Britain’s prime minister and his cabinet have all been assassinated, meanwhile, in the Ivory Tower of higher education, a clueless professor thinks real hard about anything but something relevant.
The Philanthropist debuted in London in 1970 and ran 69 performances on Broadway in 1971.

Originally produced on Broadway by David Merrick, this revival by the Roundabout Theatre Company features Matthew Broderick, Steven Weber and Jennifer Mudge.
David Grindley, who recently directed the well-reviewed revival of The American Plan, directs The Philanthropist.
