101 Words About This Show:
Grease is still the word as the revival of this Broadway musical classic has been cruising since its August 2007 opening.
You already know the story as the original production is the 12th-longest-running show in Broadway history. It centers on a 1950-ish culture clash between sweet Sandy and bad boy Danny, who meet over summer vacation but struggle to continue their romance once school starts. Double-entendres fly in this satirical take on the ’50s.
The original tongue-in-cheek music features well-known songs such as "Greased Lightning" and "We Go Together," plus songs from the movie not in the first production.
Who’s Who and What’s What:
Grease is directed by Tony-winner Kathleen Marshall, who also was among judges in the TV reality show that cast the leads. And it originally starred Max Crumm and Laura Osnes, the reality show winners, as Danny and Sandy. But recent stunt casting has also brought other stars on the boards such as American Idol’s Ace Young.
