Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical

Tony Award

Tony Awards

Since 1948, the Tony Awards have honored the leading men of Broadway musicals with the "Best Actor in a Musical" category. This list is a who's who of famous musical theatre performers who went on to become stars in movie musicals as well as television sitcoms and musical variety shows.

The voting for this category never resulted in a tie until 2009. That year, the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical went to the three young performers who alternate performing the title role of "Billy Elliott."

The Tony Awards are the major trophy for Broadway, but there are other awards given for the shows that play in the 40 Broadway theatres in New York City.
