Musicals have changed Broadway over the years, from 'Show Boat,' which first explored important themes, to 'The Producers,' which made Broadway laugh at itself. But musicals have the power to move us as people, too. What musicals, either ones you've seen or ones you've read about or listened to, have affected your life and how did they affect it?
Les Miserables
- I saw "Les Mis" when I was very young (too young to see "Les Mis," probably!) and again when I was a senior in high school, and it changed me both times. I managed to memorize the entire original cast recording as a 7-year-old and still remember most of it, and they are some of my favorite songs! The wonderful music certainly peaked my interest in being a musician as a child, and the second time around sparked an interest in the intricacies of orchestral arranging. The story is timeless and has also influenced my yearning to read more of the classics!
